How far in advance should I order my cake?

It’s never too early to make an enquiry or place an order. In fact, the sooner the better, even if it's many months away. Ideally I would ask for a minimum of 3 weeks’ notice so I can book you in and start planning the cake of your dreams. However, depending on my availability I may be able to accommodate orders with a shorter notice period, so it’s always worth enquiring. Just drop me a line.

How much are your cakes?

Each cake is baked and handmade to order, therefore prices vary according to the size and complexity of each cake. For guidance, see my Prices page for info on basic prices but for a more accurate quote please contact me to discuss your requirements and I will get back to you with a specific cake design and price.

How soon will I receive my quote?

Based on information you provide, I can give you an approximate price when I respond to your initial enquiry (usually within 24 hours) or immediately following an in-person consultation. If you are happy to proceed, I will then send you a full quote with a design concept for you to approve. Depending on how busy I am, I aim to get this to you within 2 days but please allow up to 7 days for the full quote.

What size cake should I order for my event?

If you are unsure I can help advise you. The smallest single tier cake I make is a 6-inch round, which can serve up to 12 people.

What flavours of cake can I have?

In short, whatever you like! The most popular remain vanilla, 'Victoria', chocolate, and lemon – see my Flavours page for popular options. However, just let me know if you require a different flavour and I will do my best to accommodate this.

Can I have different flavours in a tiered cake? 

Absolutely! Please note this may increase the cost slightly compared to the same flavour throughout.

Are your cakes suitable for vegetarians?

Yes. In fact, all my cakes are vegetarian by default.

Do you offer allergy-free cakes?

Due to the low volume of enquires I receive for free-from cakes I currently do not offer gluten-free or dairy-free cakes as it is untenable for me invest in ingredients and separate equipment that I won’t use regularly. Also, flavour and texture is as important to me as the design of the cake and I have yet to find a viable recipe that, in my opinion, meets the high standards I have set myself. Therefore, I am not comfortable offering free-from cakes. There are bakers and cake makers out there who specialise in this area and I would recommend anyone wanting a free-from cake approaches a specialist cake maker.

Although nuts can be removed from my cakes and every care taken, I cannot guarantee my cakes are 100% nut-free (in the same way the manufacturers of ingredients cannot guarantee their products are nut-free) as they are made in premises where nuts may be used.

Do you make fruit cakes?

Sorry, I don’t currently offer fruit cakes as a flavour option. I prefer to limit my range to the far more popular sponge based flavours.

Can I order cupcakes?

If you have ordered a cake I can make a batch of cupcakes to complement the cake order. Unfortunately, at this time I cannot accept standalone orders for cupcakes only.
